Security

Certainty Register has been designed to protect both the registrant and the assets recorded.  The platform operates with strict security and privacy principles and protocols so that recording an asset does not expose individuals or belongings to risk.

Certainty Register was designed so that recording an asset does not create a list of valuables that could be exploited.

Certainty Register does not collect or store residential addresses as part of the registration process. Assets are recorded against a private member account using secure identifiers rather than location data. This means the register cannot be used to determine where an item is kept or where a registrant lives.

Certainty Register also does not record where an asset is physically stored, whether at a home, safe, vault, or elsewhere.

Where an insurer, authority, or other third party needs to confirm a record (for example during a claim), they must submit the identifiers shown on the certificate.

These typically include:
    • Certificate ID
    • Asset ID
    • Member ID

If the identifiers match a record on the register, Certainty Register can confirm that the asset exists on the register under that member account.

Where supporting material such as photographs or documents are held, these are only shared with the registrant’s permission or where legally required.

Certainty Register has no public search function.  Records cannot be searched by name, asset type, brand, value, or any other identifying information.  Assets can only be referenced using the specific identifiers printed on a certificate.

Certainty Register operates under strict internal access controls.  Our staff cannot browse or search member asset records. Access to encrypted data is restricted to automated system processes required for the operation of the platform.

All information is stored within Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure using Amazon S3 secure storage, one of the most widely used enterprise data platforms in the world.

Security measures include:
    • Encrypted data storage
    • Encrypted data transfer (HTTPS / TLS)
    • Role-based access control
    • Isolated storage architecture
    • Continuous infrastructure monitoring

Certainty Register exists to provide a private record of existence, not a public catalogue of valuables.

For that reason:
    • Asset records are not publicly searchable
    • No residential addresses are collected
    • No storage locations are recorded
    • Records can only be referenced using certificate identifiers

The result is a system that allows valuable assets to be recorded without creating a roadmap for criminals.
